... almost back to normal

All that's really missing in my life now is my MAC. I can't edit any pictures or even completely download any without it... I miss it. If the movers hadn't completely destroyed our desks it would probably be up and running already... but they did so it's not.

Brennan is 3 months old :O He's past the infancy stage already and entering into baby-hood. He's started sucking his fingers a lot lately and his new favorite person is the adorable baby in the mirror.

In case you haven't noticed the pictures on the sidebar, we went hiking in the mountains over the weekend. It was amazing. We plan on going there many many more times over the next 3 years. Noah hiked the whole way on his own, as always. Tristan whined and cried and wanted to be in the carrier as always. They are so drastically different. Brennan was perfectly happy hanging out on my back, but only if he was facing out into the open air so he could see everything. He didn't fall asleep until we were on the way back after a 2 hour hike.

I've been feeling kinda weird lately... not pregnant or sick weird, just weird. I feel boring and frustrated. Not bored, but boring. I feel like I have become this "housewife" with nothing to talk about, nothing intelligent to say. It makes me a little scared and self-conscious. I'm remedying these feelings with books, articles, planning trips. I don't want to bore my husband (and myself) into depression or worse. I don't want my life to be so routine and blase. I think it's compounded by the fact that we're in Europe and haven't gotten to do anything yet. Going to a few playgrounds, the mall, and the grocery store are not my idea of "experiencing Europe". It's ok, we will eventually get to a point with the kids and the finances where travel is possible.

I look out from my balcony and see this gorgeous landscape on the horizon and then I turn around to face a room in my house, begging to be cleaned, not completely unpacked. BOOOO!!!... soon, though. The trip to the mountains definitely helped make me feel better. I think I need a trip every weekend.

Perhaps you should start taking some online college classes. I know you're strapped for time, but it'd be good for you to spend an hour or so a night doing something just for you, something intelligent and usually they have discussion boards on the online classes where you can interact with other people and whatnot. I think that would be morebeneficial than you realize bcause it would give you something to talk about and you'd be learning something as well and if you decide to go back to work some day it's always good to have some college behind you and if you don't go back to work, it's always beneficial to further your education, especially when your GI bill benefits are pretty nice these days. (I get like 1100 a mo for taking one class this semester).
Good luck lady! :) miss you!

Hi Allie!
It's been a while... I can't believe all the changes that you have had since I last stopped by! Brennan is gorgeous -- you and Josh certainly produce beautiful babies! :-)

As you well know by now, much of the stay-at-home-mom thing is pretty mundane if you just look at it on a day-to-day basis. But trust me, when you look back someday, you'll be so glad you were there for your boys for as long as you are able to be.

I'm still not back to blogging -- don't know what my matter is -- but I wanted to stop in to see your new baby and to thank you for keeping in touch with me with the change of address. Also, I'm just bursting with excitement because I'm going to be a grandma!
:-D

(Sorry this is so long... email me if you want to -- it's on my blog profile.)

I do think the online college courses are a good Idea. Go to AMU, they have a special spouses program where you can take a few courses for free. And they will transfer your military stuff.
As far as "experiencing" europe...I must have a different idea of what that means. I personally think you are doing it the most genuine way! I love going to other countries and living there. Not going and doing the touristy stuff, although its fun, I like just shopping at the markets and learning the culture. But I know the trips would be awsome. You already experienced sooo much more than many of us have, and its genuine.

Hi Pam!! :D Thanks for stopping by!

Jen & Amy: I'm actually looking at a Spanish college right now... specifically geared towards degrees in teaching Spanish, and Spanish in general.

I don't want to do touristy things, really. I want to see Spain. Most of Spain has a lot of historical sites. I am a picture hound and I need to take pictures! ;) I still haven't eaten paella or tried any tapas, haven't gone to a cafeteria or bar or a real coffee house. Once Brennan's old enough we'll get a sitter and do all that. I am in no hurry for my baby to get older :)

I feel like a big wimp because I could be doing more, but I am such an insecure baby when it comes to speaking Spanish. I'll get over it. My big accomplishment yesterday was firing an old gardener, talking to my landlord, and hiring a new gardener. I was insanely nervous about that for no reason. Went well! I need to make myself use Spanish every day. Even if it is just to teach the boys.

ok that was looooong

oh man! I love paella! There are a couple of places here in San Antone that make some pretty decent paella, but it's a little difficult to find.
Go find some and then give me a very detailed description of how delicious it is! :)

Good for you and you're speaking Spanish. You should just start talking in english with a bad mexicn accent and see how that goes over. "Why did I fire the gardener? I did not like heeeeeem!"

I haven't had paella yet either! haha..And the tapas I had there were basically acetunas, and papas fritas. haha But I understand. I guess I will have to go visit so I can babysit for you. :P

In the worlds view...our life is boring when we choose to stay home and raise our kids 100% by ourselves. YOU are leading anything, but a boring life...nor are you a boring person. Silly girl!
The bible is soooo on target when it says "to everything there is a season and a purpose". You are in that season of life full of preschoolers and toddlers...and babies. You tend to feel like you've lost a piece of yourself in the process, but take it from someone who's been there a few times...you haven't lost that piece! It's just recessed as the mother tiger in you needs to be front and center.
Love you Al!
