Potty Training

Our first day of potty training was... educational. Noah peed in his underwear 5 times before I finally went ahead and put a pull-up on him. This is not going to happen. He just doesn't care and doesn't even realize it's him peeing that's causing the puddle at his feet. He just doesn't get it at ALL! He would sit in a dirty diaper until his skin was rotting off and not care. He's going to be difficult to potty train.

Don't feel pressured - he'll get it eventually and it'll be much easier when he does. I used to think Liz was going to need to take a diaper bag with her to high school, she SO didn't get it for so long! Then I realized, everyone figures it out eventually. For one thing, peer pressure would do the trick if nothing else did!

I'm happy to report that Liz will graduate from this June, and she never once needed the diaper bag all through high school!

Thanks, Pam. I feel a bit better. My niece and nephew both weren't potty trained until 3 years old (which also makes me feel better). It didn't require much training once they were ready. They just knew what to do and wanted to do it. I'm sure he'll eventually go on the potty. And he'll eventually be able to talk better too!

Haha, some kids just don't mind being wet!Ava HATES it.I change her diaper at least once a night still. She pees alot.I think the most important thing is for Noah to be able to tell you that he has peed or pooped, then move on to tell you before he pees or poops....from what I've read. Then it will make things a lot easier for you!I am dreading potty training. But I can't wait at the same time.Diapers are sooo expensive!!!!!We use generic diapers during the day & huggies at night since Ava is a morning pooper she has to be wearing a Huggies diaper for that....haha...I have learned a lot in 17 months of being a parent!!
~Good luck,I know Noah will get it soon!Don't give up!
