Weekend Surprise

MELON FACE!!! BOOOOOOOO!!!! hahahaha We actually did scare Alex when she got this melon face as a picture message. No one ever expects a melon face.

On Friday night I left for Ohio to surprise my sister Vita for her birthday. Our other sisters were there too, Janine flew in from Florida to surprise her. We had a great weekend full of laughs and hilarious pictures. We have so many inside jokes in our family. We took a lot of "sister" poses. I think out of the 50 or so we might have been seriously posing and smiling for one or two. That's how we rock (dedicated to Jake) in our family.

Well this is it for the "good" ones that I had on my camera. And now for my favorites... the dumb ones!!! YAY!! :D

Here we have the 2 youngest daughters carelessly pushed aside by the older sisters... and we wept for possibly seconds, feeling the pain of being unwanted. It was heartbreaking.

And here we are worshiping our Birthday Queen with tender gentle breezes and a foot massage.

Much more nonsense was had by all, but most of it was captured on other peoples' cameras. As soon as everyone uploads I am going to choose my favorites and print them out for a new section on my wall. This will be one of my favorite memories :) We forgot to take a shot of all the siblings. We were waiting for Glenn to arrive and then forgot about it until it was dark outside and everyone was unmotivated. Everyone but Mark was there. Maybe next time we'll remember!

I had a lot of fun, but I was ready to come home after a mere 2 days away from my boys. Noah was holding a bouquet of flowers for me at the arrivals gate. All my boys were dressed nice with little button-downs and collars :) I was happy to be home. Unfortunately I think I may have picked up a cold from one of those disease-ridden planes. Maybe I have SARS hahaha. Dang I almost forgot about SARS... Oh yeah and also avian bird flu and west nile virus. In other words, I am not happy today. I feel pretty crappy. I'm tired because Tristan was up at 11:30 and then 6 with whatever issues he's been having. Noah randomly threw up when he got up this morning, but seems to be fine now. My throat hurts and I want to go back to sleeeeep! I know! I will tell Noah since he was sick this morning he needs to take a nap so he can get better :) YAY NAP!!

You guys are all so cute. Nothing like inside jokes with you sisters :) My sister & I have a lot too & Beth too since she is like my sister :)

That is so sweet that you surprised Vita. I bet it was strange being away from your kids like that,but it looks like you were able to relax & laugh & have fun with your family. Now you just need to get better!

That had to be the best executed Haake family surprise EVER. Even mom was able to trick me! I think I am still in shock. I love you guys SO much. We are so lucky to have each other <3 <3 <3

You must have caught my cold....sooooo sorry!
I felt "sick" on Friday and Saturday and on Sunday I woke up and said, "it can't get much worse than this". However, I woke up Monday and said, "Okay THIS must be the pinnacle, it won't get worse than this". Today, Tuesday, I woke up and said, "OH MY GOSH Someone please cut my head off!! THIS must be the peak...it surely can't get worse than this." LOL dude it's miserable :(

What a fun weekend! I don't have any sisters but it looks like you guys had a blast. The pictures defintely show the love :) Also, a weekend without kids..that is amazing! I know I have only had like 24 hours away from Haley. Not that I want a weekend away, but it maybe nice everyone in while.

Still Happy!! HOORAY!!

We're still going strong with our happiness levels out here. Yesterday was a little bit rough because Tristan was especially whiney, but today was amazing :) We got our grocery shopping done and even managed to have fun doing that! Noah and I were singing Christmas songs already while Tris and Bren laughed at us. Tristan sometimes piped in with a "all the way" when we were singing Jingle Bells. Noah was cracking up when I sang him the Batman version :D After all that excitement the 2 wee ones went down for their naps and Noah and I gave Bosley a bath with his new tea extract shampoo. Almost Doesn't Count

We almost ended up with a puppy today. An adorable baby Jack Russell Terrier mix wandered into our yard. He was very sweet, laid back, flea-ridden, dirty, cute, a little broken, good temperament, un-fixed, and very very good with Noah and Emma. I asked the neighbors about him and they showed me where the owner lived. She took him inside and told me how he's driving her crazy because he chews through collars and gets out of the yard (which is because he's a puppy and not an outside breed). She mentioned possibly getting rid of him. Lo and behold he wandered back into our yard not too long after that... interesting. I wanted to adopt him because he was unwanted, but shouldn't have been. He was a very sweet dog. I would have called him Jackie I think :) This brings me to a rant. I know I've posted about the way people around here treat their pets. This is a perfect example. This lady didn't want the puppy anymore so she simply let it go. No collar, no tags...

Project 365: Jan 16 - 20

Tuesday, January 16th - more snow and a cotton candy sunset. It wasn't much, but the ice beneath and timing of the snow itself  meant a snow day for the kids! Now that they're teenagers, that precious time is spent catching up on sleep, which makes working from home pretty easy for me. Wednesday, January 17th - the morning light changes throughout the year as the earth moves around the sun. In winter, it peeks in through my living room window and spotlights the entertainment center in warm light.  Thursday, January 18th - Braved the inch of ice on the ground to attend a legislative reception in Annapolis with my coworkers/friends. We spent the day networking, laughing, and planning to save our little section of the Chesapeake Bay watershed here in Southern Maryland. Friday, January 19th - Jug Bay snow day!!!
