We're back

So we're back in Texas. I'm really glad we went out to Germany. Our family really needed that time to actually be a family. This visit was the longest we'd been together since October, 2004. We relaxed, cooked, played games, took walks, took drives, toured Germany, shopped, and talked a lot... we even had time to fight. It was wonderful.

Most likely Josh will be in Germany until he gets approved for his school. If he gets the school he'll be back in the states (in Arizona) in May. The school is 3 or 4 months and he will probably get to come back to San Antonio (around September). If he doesn't get approved he'll be in Germany until June and then who knows where we'll have to go. All we know is if he can't get his school he'll be deploying again soon for another year. Hooray for "sending more troops". So onward we march towards completing a full 3 years apart. Anyway...

I've been extremely busy. That's how I function best :) Noah's new bed came today. It's so cool!! It has a desk and shelves and drawers. I ended up having to rip apart a piece of furniture we built for him while I was pregnant. This involved a drill, hammer, handsaw, hacksaw and screwdriver. But, I did it in about an hour and managed to save the 2 shelf units. I also managed to smash my finger between the wall and what I was ripping apart. I'm sure my body will really hurt tomorrow, but I needed the exercise. I had a pleasantly productive day. Now it's time to put Noah down for bed. Gnite!

Wow you have been keeping yourself busy!I really hope that Josh gets approved for his school so you all can be together again.I know it must be so hard for you.My friend Katie's husband is in the Navy & has been gone for a few months now.They still have 5 months I think until he returns home,but now there might be a chance of him being re-deployed.Her daughter is 15 months,I am sure she understands what you're through....keep yourself busy & hopefully everything will work itself out soon for you guys.I am glad you guys are home safe!

Still Happy!! HOORAY!!

We're still going strong with our happiness levels out here. Yesterday was a little bit rough because Tristan was especially whiney, but today was amazing :) We got our grocery shopping done and even managed to have fun doing that! Noah and I were singing Christmas songs already while Tris and Bren laughed at us. Tristan sometimes piped in with a "all the way" when we were singing Jingle Bells. Noah was cracking up when I sang him the Batman version :D After all that excitement the 2 wee ones went down for their naps and Noah and I gave Bosley a bath with his new tea extract shampoo. Almost Doesn't Count

We almost ended up with a puppy today. An adorable baby Jack Russell Terrier mix wandered into our yard. He was very sweet, laid back, flea-ridden, dirty, cute, a little broken, good temperament, un-fixed, and very very good with Noah and Emma. I asked the neighbors about him and they showed me where the owner lived. She took him inside and told me how he's driving her crazy because he chews through collars and gets out of the yard (which is because he's a puppy and not an outside breed). She mentioned possibly getting rid of him. Lo and behold he wandered back into our yard not too long after that... interesting. I wanted to adopt him because he was unwanted, but shouldn't have been. He was a very sweet dog. I would have called him Jackie I think :) This brings me to a rant. I know I've posted about the way people around here treat their pets. This is a perfect example. This lady didn't want the puppy anymore so she simply let it go. No collar, no tags...

Project 365: Jan 16 - 20

Tuesday, January 16th - more snow and a cotton candy sunset. It wasn't much, but the ice beneath and timing of the snow itself  meant a snow day for the kids! Now that they're teenagers, that precious time is spent catching up on sleep, which makes working from home pretty easy for me. Wednesday, January 17th - the morning light changes throughout the year as the earth moves around the sun. In winter, it peeks in through my living room window and spotlights the entertainment center in warm light.  Thursday, January 18th - Braved the inch of ice on the ground to attend a legislative reception in Annapolis with my coworkers/friends.
